Cellfina® Cellulite Treatment in High Point, NC
The term “cottage cheese thighs” is indicative of how embarrassing and unattractive cellulite is considered to be. It’s a common enough aggravation to spawn an entire industry dedicated to its removal, yet truly effective methods have remained elusive for years. For some people, their cellulite is enough to cause them to avoid certain outfits for fear of exposure.
The Cellfina® system aims to change this by offering patients a powerful way to reduce the appearance of cellulite within days. An FDA-cleared cellulite treatment, Cellfina®, has been proven to treat the cause of cellulite from within, improving skin for years to come.

Consult with your surgeon to see what areas Cellfina® treatments are appropriate for and what you can expect before and after the procedure.
How Is Cellfina® Performed?
Cellfina® is a minimally invasive procedure specifically designed for cellulite treatment. It is effective at removing cellulite along the thighs, buttocks, and lower body. Cellfina® works by targeting the connective tissues underneath the surface of the skin to reduce the appearance of cellulite, typically from the very first treatment.
The system uses a tiny needle-like device inserted into the skin to target the connective bands of tissue right underneath the surface. These fibrous bands pull down on skin tissue from below to cause that familiar puckered and dimpled appearance.
Cellfina® uses a handheld device containing a microblade to gently release the hold of those fibrous bands, causing tissues to “snap back” into place and removing dimples and puckers.
The whole process can generally be completed within one 45-minute treatment. A numbing solution may be used beforehand, but Cellfina® does not typically cause side effects any more severe than minor pain or swelling.
What Can You Expect From Your Cellfina® Recovery?
There is very little downtime associated with Cellfina®. Patients may experience some soreness or tenderness in the areas treated, but any discomfort quickly dissipates. Some patients may want to take a day off work and avoid strenuous activity in the 24 hours immediately following treatment. Patients may also need to wear compression garments to keep the treated areas firm.
Any signs of discomfort should vanish within days.
When Will You See Your Cellfina® Results?
The effects of Cellfina® treatments are apparent from the very beginning. Most patients see their cellulite start to improve about three days after treatment.
Improvement only continues with time: after three months, cellulite has been drastically reduced, and after a year, over 90 percent of patients report feeling extremely satisfied with their Cellfina® treatments.
These results can last up to three years, with patients reporting nearly the same level of satisfaction as the first few months.
Frequently Asked Questions About Cellulite and Cellulite Treatment
What is cellulite, and why does it form?
The term cellulite refers to the lumpy dimples that form on the skin, particularly along the thighs, buttocks, and lower back. Cellulite develops when the connective tissues beneath the skin constrict and pull inward, allowing the underlying fat cells to push through and become trapped.
Why is cellulite more common in women?
While cellulite can affect both men and women, it is far more common in women. It is estimated that between 80 and 90 percent of women will develop cellulite to some extent. This condition is more prevalent in women due to how their connective tissue and fat cells are arranged. The connective tissue and fat cells in women are arranged vertically, so it is easy for the fat cells to push through. Men’s fat cells and connective tissues are arranged in a criss-cross pattern, making it far more difficult for the fat cells to push through the constructing connective tissues.
Why does weight loss not address cellulite?
Weight loss does not improve the appearance of cellulite because cellulite is not caused by excess fat cells. In fact, cellulite can appear even in individuals with very little fat. Even if patients lose weight (or undergo a surgical procedure that removes fat cells), these actions do not loosen the tightened connective tissues, so some cellulite may still appear.
What non-surgical treatments can be performed alongside Cellfina?
Cellfina® treatments can also be combined with non-invasive cosmetic procedures, such as laser skin rejuvenation and ThermiSmooth® Body, for optimal results. Some patients may choose to follow up their cellulite reduction treatments with a laser hair reduction treatment to further improve the look and smoothness of the legs.
Which surgical procedures can improve the appearance of the legs and buttocks along with cellulite treatment?
Cellulite treatments are commonly performed before or after surgical body contouring treatments to further improve aesthetic results. These treatments are beneficial after liposuction of the body (including the thighs, buttocks, knees, and lower back) and thigh lift surgery.
Dr. Willard also offers liposuction without general anesthesia for qualifying patients interested in a less invasive surgical option.
Can cellulite return after a Cellfina® treatment?
Because Cellfina® severs the constricting connective bands that cause cellulite, it is very unlikely for cellulite to return in the treated areas; however, cellulite can still develop in areas that have not been treated.
Can I prevent cellulite?
While there is no way to prevent cellulite entirely, since it is so common and not always a direct result of weight gain, patients can help reduce their chances by following a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a stable weight.
