Gentle X-ray Treatment for Skin Cancer in High Point, NC

Dr. Willard is proud to offer the SRT-100™x-ray system to treat non-melanoma skin cancer and other unsightly growths. This x-ray system is a non-invasive, pain-free alternative to Mohs surgery and other lesion removal procedures.

The SRT-100™ has been cleared by the FDA to treat non-melanoma skin cancers and keloids.

The SRT-100™ is appropriate for all skin tones and types.

Why Should I Get X-ray Treatments?

X-ray treatments are an excellent alternative to invasive surgeries to remove certain types of skin cancer, non-malignant tumors, and other skin lesions (such as keloids). If you have any of these conditions, schedule a consultation at Piedmont Plastic Surgery to see if x-ray treatments can help you.

X-ray treatments are faster and less invasive than surgical options and offer comparable results. Studies have shown that this treatment has a 95 percent cure rate for non-melanoma skin cancer (including basal and squamous cell carcinoma), a statistic that easily rivals surgical interventions.

The SRT-100™ x-ray system is specifically designed to limit its penetration to the skin’s top five millimeters only. This means that it can target surface-level lesions without damaging the underlying tissues.

The gentle x-ray system can completely remove cancerous growths without scarring, including keloid scarring. Also, unlike Mohs micrographic surgery, this procedure will not require skin grafts or other skin reconstruction techniques after becoming cancer-free.

These are major advantages compared to surgical excision.

In addition, patients will require no downtime or dedicated recovery time following the skin cancer removal.

How Does X-ray Treatment for Skin Cancer Work?

As with most x-ray treatments, the procedure is quick and easy. Patients will come in for their appointment, and a surface cream will be applied as a moisturizer and numbing agent.

Your technician will then apply the appropriate x-ray applicator to the treatment area. This often requires a few passes with x-ray energy.

This process is generally pain-free, but minor discomfort may occur.

X-ray treatments are ideal for delicate areas such as the:

  • Head
  • Neck
  • Nose
  • Lips
  • Eyelids
  • Ear lining

It may also be used to treat broader areas, such as the arms, legs, back, or abdomen.

When Will I See My X-ray Treatment Results?

The results of x-ray treatments for skin cancer may take several weeks to become visible; however, some results may become noticeable in as little as a few days.

Patients may need multiple x-ray treatments depending on the condition being treated. Ask your surgeon how many treatments you will need during your consultation.
